THEY'RE HERE. While Europe, China, and Japan got their national championships out of the way before the new year, those of us in the Western hemisphere have had to feign patience. Finally, the long-awaited North American National Championships start this weekend, and the senior events start Thursday, January 21 (US) and Friday, January 22 (Canada).

The Judges' Table is based in the US, and as a result, a lot of people were interested in judging the US National Championships. We couldn't quite accommodate everyone, but we're doing an experiment: US Nationals will feature TEN (10!) JUDGES. We'll present the results in a slightly different way than what you're used to seeing, and some of the answers might get cut a bit shorter than normal (judges, take note). In the meantime, acquaint yourself with our ten (10!) judges for US Nationals!

US Nationals

Amanda (@BlondeAssassin1)
Favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years: I feel like there are more overscored skates that come to mind...mostly in regards to high PCS that a lot of skaters get which they don't deserve.
Lauren (@lbee329)
Favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years: Can I possibly do past six years because by a mile for me is Meryl and Charlie's Samson and Delilah 2009 Worlds. It should have won the free dance. They should have medaled. I watched it every so often and every time I am still mad.
Meghan (@DadeMeghan) | Figuratively Speaking
What's your favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years? The fact that Michelle Kwan did not win the 1998 Olympics is still a major tragedy that haunts me.
Phillip (@Sk8fanPhil)
Favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years: Mao Asada's Sochi free skate. Yes, she tanked the short program, but she honestly should have won the free program. She was underscored in the PCS at that event, she was equally as good as Kim, Sotnikova and Koster, not lesser in any way. Even if she would not have made the podium, she showed enormous mental fortitude with the free skate of her life.
Roxanne (@flailingsequins) | Tumblr
What's your favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years? Adam Rippon's free skate from US Nationals 2015.
Erin (@Erinsk8) | On Stage and Screen
What's your favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years? The one that immediately comes to mind is Belbin and Agosto at the 2010 Olympics. They should have been third.
Matthew (@mrusskie93) | Cincinnati Ballet
What's your favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years? Weirdly a lot of the major underscored programs happen to skaters who are not favorites of mine. Carolina Zhang's SP at 2013 Nationals was one. Her 3/3 was no more short than the year before, but it got massacred by the technical panel. Also Brian Joubert's LP at 2013 Worlds right after Chanflation. Most recently, I would have had the Shibs first at SC and Edmunds third at COR without hesitation.
Patrick (@Team_PDD) | Patrick Commentates Skating
Favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years: I can think of several, but Mao's Sochi free skate was underscored, especially compared to the scores of the skaters from the final group.
Rafael (@HRHtheDentist)
What's your favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years? Rachael Flatt's short program at the 2014 Nationals was crazy underscored. Also, the Shibutanis have been taking a beating over the last couple seasons which I think is a crime against humanity.
Tiffany (@TiffLangston) | Tiffany Langston
Favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years: Anytime Mae Berenice Meite skates, but we'll go with her 2014 Olympic short program.

Don't worry, US skating fans: while we're arguing about Ashley and Gracie, three skating fans will be keeping track of Canadian Nationals for us and will let us know what to expect at Worlds! We have space left for Canadian Nationals, so if you're interested in judging, shoot us an email!

Canadian Nationals

Justine (@PrincessBeany) | Princess Beany Skates
What's your favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years? I feel I spend so much of my time justifying over-scoring...but I thought Scott and Tessa at the Olympics were far superior to Meryl and Charlie and should have been scored higher.
Sharon (@RosaCotton) | Tumblr
Taryn (@tleeh)
What's your favorite grossly underscored skate of the last five years? I think the Shibs were underscored over the years. The Memoirs of a Geisha program stands out. I also think Virtue and Moir were better than Davis and White in most competitions.
